Throne Thieves

A.W. Tower speaks so eloquently. In his book "The Knowledge of the Holy", one section is dedicated to our sinfulness. He describes all sin as being one thing: the placing of our own selves (each of us) on the throne. 
We then expect the world and universe to revolve around us. 
Which does not work very well when each of us expects the very same thing. 
We are born in such thoughts. Why should we think anything else? From the time of conception on to birth, every need was fully met---without even asking for it. Then, with the rather horrible experience of birth we are generally "forced" to scream, as these idiots about us do not answer quickly enough. So forth and so on do we expect the world to revolve about our little god selves. 
As unbelievers we plop ourselves into godhood, but even more sickeningly so do we as believers. We happily forget to be servants, read all the self esteem issues of the world, and re-read ourselves again. 
Of course we are going to have more and more self esteem issues the longer we remain on a throne that is not ours. Has anyone seen the Disney film "Maleficent"? (A bit dark and scary for little ones). The king in that film comes about his throne in not the most honest of terms----and madness builds in Him stronger and stronger. He does not even realize what IS happening in the world beyond his obsession. 
So long as we remain on a throne that is not ours we will be consumed by it. We will smash each other, attempting to force one another of the throne...all while the throne's real Owner watches us. Self esteem is an issue. Because it is self we are worshipping. When the Owner of the throne is not being "shoved" out of it by our sinful godlett selves, we have Something much better to be focused on....and that King is what heals our minds as the Psalms say. Then, and only then, will we not be crushed by all the others demanding to be in the throne, but instead be filled with the joy of worshipping the One who belongs there. So. Will you give up the throne which is not yours today?
