To the Back Burner

What do we do when repress our disappointment and anger before the Lord? All we've done is shove the problem to the back burner. And we naively think "things will work out". But they don't. Hope is abused, then deferred. It revives, then gets snuffed out (Pro 13.12)
Affliction will either warm you up toward spiritual things or turn you cold, Strong emotions open the door to asking really hard questions. More to the point, our deep emotions reveal the spiritual direction in which we are moving. Are we moving toward the Almighty, or away from Him? Anger....makes Someone the issue of our suffering rather than something.

I thankfully was one who found herself going closer and as fast as she could to the Lord. But I have known many people who simply turned their back on the Savior. "He isn't doing anything for me!" they tell me. Oh...injured one, He is. He is right there with you, if you just let down the angry guard post of thoughts shouting in your mind (which I would say from readings are part of spiritual warfare). You do have to listen for and seek Him. Not that He isn't right there, ready the grab your hand, you have to ask. He will be right there. 
Think of Peter walking on water. We are all doing that. Yet something "shiny" catches our gaze from our Lord and Savior, and we are flailing in the water. Now, we have two options. We can continue to flail (run from God) in the water, or we can cry out, "Jesus, save me!" Was there any time gap in the story? No. Jesus grasped Peter from the water, with the admonition "Oh you of little faith." I don't think He said that harshly, just as a statement. Because we so often are of little faith. 
We are often called sheep. And sheep are easily frightened. They scatter at the faintest sound of danger (sometimes running right into the danger) when the safest place is with the Shepherd...regardless of what happens. With Him, you can expect some healings if He wills it, or comfort at least. Alone? Nothing....just complete emptiness. People try and fill that emptiness with buying things, drinking and drugs to cover the pain of that hole...so forth and so on. 
And all I have to say is "Lord" and I know He is with me. All you have to do is that as well. Because He is there and here and everywhere.
