One of the terrors of chronic illness is that of being alone. The last few weeks have had me in the grips of this monster; the one which finds me elderly, sick, alone. No one in the house. No one to get supplies if I am too ill to get them. It is a terrorizing, overwhelming, consuming thought process----one that has devoured me at any moment I was alone. I have learned to not cry, not longer than a minute, for that guarantees a flare. It is trying to be so afraid and not be allowed to cry.
A solution was hit upon, should I be in that situation. A quick text message to one of my dearest of friends and it was agreed. If we are in such a peril, however silly it may be to rest of the world, but indeed a terrifying peril when one is facing it, we shall join forces. Then there shall be two ill people under one roof.
It was, however, agreed that we must alternate days being sick, so that someone can make meals. Ha!
