With any illness comes the constant observation of the liver. Nearly all medications are metabolized, or broken down, by the liver. People have to take enough medication to leak meds past the liver. In other words, overwhelm the liver so that medication has affect on the patient. Doing this without killing the liver.
Naturally this wears on the liver. Mine is fine, but we cannot change my methotrexate dose any higher, for my liver is beginning to show stress. My bimonthly blood tests showed increase in the liver function tests. We will continue to monitor, and make choices based on the tests.
Thing is, I don't even think I have the benefit of better RA control.
