All that a man is and does depends, in the last resort, on what he knows and believes. The Preacher, James Stalker
In the parable of the seeds, Christ discussed the faith of the world. The seeds fell on a variety of soils---some seeds were eaten by birds, some grew quickly and faded from lack of soil, and some were smothered by weeds.
The seed that grew and lasted, withstood the strugggles of life were those that landed on good soil.
Stalker throws out an interesting theory, that intelligence has to do with keepingg faith.
Not saying that only the smartest "make" it...but rather that those who think about the Word, think about the importance of faith.
When the worst of times hit, our faith becomes the most important. What I know an believe about God is the anchor that holds me in place in this storm of sickness. If we sever the rope to that anchor, we will be tossed about beyond our ability to survive the storm. Strengthen the rope with more studying, more contemplation of God. Then what we do and who we are actually matters, there is true purpose in our lives. The storms of life may hit, but He is standing to pull us back into walking on the water beside Him.

Col 1:15-19
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. 17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. 19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him
